The challenge
With the onset of the pandemic and the introduction of many restrictions, all classroom training courses were halted, and thus training plans required immediate redesign. Onninen’s headquarters has placed great emphasis on making as much employee training available remotely in an online form as possible. Thus, the situation forced the company to find a new solution to ensure the continuity of training and ongoing development of employees.

Although the company already had an e-learning platform from another provider, it became crucial to find a tool that was more modern and better suited to the current challenges. The logistical and cost aspects were also important in this regard. Up to this point, new employees, as part of the onboarding process, had come to the company’s offices, where they were trained for several days. With a growing workforce and a distributed structure, finding a system solution became necessary for Onninen.
The solution
The company began its search for tools that would meet the specified requirements and objectives. The ability to check demo versions of e-learning platforms available on the market was very important for the company. This made the choice much easier. Using the platform for onboarding was one of the main objectives. The company wanted to gather all onboarding activities in one place. The ability to create training paths, uploading own e-learning courses and sharing of materials, such as text files, PDF files or video, was crucial.

The implementation of the platform took two days, but because Onninen wanted to launch the project at the beginning of the new year, it was deliberately postponed.

Based on development discussions, employees, in addition to free access to Dolineo’s catalogue of ready-made training courses, also received guidance related to specific areas in which they must improve. Then, employees get access to training paths that suit their needs. Each of the organisation’s departments received individual competency paths.
